DIY - Pom-pom Necklaces

I was looking around for an easy craft to keep my girls happy one rainy day, when I found this! It was perfect: super simple, quick, and cheerful enough to brighten a gloomy day.

I had picked up a bag of pom-poms from Amazon one day with no real purpose in mind, and it's been a great purchase :).

We pretty quickly moved this craft to the rug on the floor, to keep the pom-poms from rolling everywhere!

The options for customization are endless, but I had the girls just pick five colors this time:

To withstand toddler tugging, I used some string I had on hand (with a fun metallic thread in it) and a large embroidery needle to poke through the pom-poms.

Once the needle was through, the girls were in charge of pulling the pom-poms down until they were all "kissing," as the tutorial above says. It's obviously not a huge job, but I've found that they stay much more invested in projects if they can be hands-on in some way at every step. And look at the happy results!

She couldn't decide if she liked it better spaced out, or all together...and we started making more color combos right away :). We'll be doing this craft again and again!
