The holiday season is here, and once again,
I’ve come up with a long list of Christmas ideas I’d love to check off before December 25th.
This year, I decided to shake things up and put a fun spin on the usual gingerbread house tradition
by creating a giant one—big enough for the kids to actually play in!
It turned out to be surprisingly simple, and honestly, it’s been a hit.
The kids have been playing in it every day since we built it!
I started with a basic cardboard playhouse (you can buy here) that had a plain brown interior, which made it perfect for customizing.
First, I flipped it inside out, and then I cut two triangles to create an awning, gluing them onto the box.
For the window, I kept it simple with a piece of paper.
Next, I used some white paper tape (you can buy here) to add details around the edges.
I criss-crossed the roof to mimic the look of frosting, and attached two pieces of paper to create “snow” along the awning, cutting it into a wavy pattern for a fun touch.
To finish it off, I added colorful candy pom poms and candy canes (you can buy here) with my trusty glue gun.
I also used a chalk marker (you can buy here) to add some little designs around the windows for extra flair.
And Tada!
A gingerbread house that the whole family can enjoy!
