Can you believe July is almost here?
Time is flying, but we love how this month kicks off with celebration right away.
If you're looking for a fun and festive way to decorate your home for Independence Day—and beyond.
This easy DIY pallet flag is the perfect project to welcome the season.
There are so many creative ways to turn a wooden pallet into an American flag, but we wanted to create something a little more refined—something that looks less like a pallet and more like a piece of rustic wall art you’ll want to keep up all summer long.
Here's how we made ours:
1. Shape it like a flag:
We started with a square pallet and trimmed the bottom
to make it rectangular, giving it that classic flag shape.

2. Rebuild for a cleaner look:
Next, we removed all the horizontal boards from the front and back, then reattached them with small, even spaces between each plank to give it a more uniform, finished feel.
Tip: You can add a board to the bottom too for extra support,
but ours hung nice and straight with just the top ledge!
3. Time to paint:
Now the fun part—add your patriotic flair! Whether you go traditional like we did (stars and stripes, of course!) or try a more modern interpretation, your painted flag will add a festive touch to your porch or entryway all season.
And don’t worry—we didn’t manage all 50 stars either!

We love that this DIY is sturdy enough to stay outside in all kinds of weather and festive enough
to leave up well past the 4th of July.
